Why less is more in the Gym

Most health and gym enthusiast think you should spend about an hour in the gym everyday. I agree with this number but half of that time should be spent warming up and stretching and only about half an hour of actually training.

The reason is if you spend more time than that you body gets fatigued and your form as well as power suffers meaning you wont be lifting as much or pushing yourself to your maximum level leading to just minimal gains weather they be strength or cardio.

Where this really affects you is your energy levels if you deplete your energy levels in the gym everyday and don’t take the proper steps to regain them like sleeping  8 plus hours a day and eating all the right foods, by friday you are already starting your workout extremely fatigued meaning you are gaining  basically nothing from that day.

Professionals athletes are able to train for hours a day multiple times a day because wells that’s all they do is train sleep and eat the right foods. Unfortunately for us normal folk we don’t the luxury of an enormous budget to buy all the best foods and the time to sleep for 10-12 hours a day. Next time you lift for an extended amount of time think if it’s really helping or hurting.

  1. Totally agree with you on this. It’s not about the lengthy of time working out, it’s the quality of the workout- programming, technique, resistance/weight etc.
